Materials for automotive radar sensors
The safety of automobiles lies in radar! SABIC supports advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with two new radar-absorbing materials (LNP STAT-KON compounds) for radar sensors. There is also a new polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin-based material for radomes. Additionally, SABIC offers radar-absorbing materials LNP STAT-KON compounds based on polyetherimide (PEI) resin and polycarbonate (PC) resin. The automotive radar market is projected to reach $7.6 billion by 2026. (https://lnkd.in/gqQjPNs) Radar sensors provide functions such as blind spot detection, collision avoidance, automatic braking, and traffic alerts. These are crucial components for ADAS as they operate even in conditions that impair visibility, such as poor weather, which can affect LiDAR and camera functions.
